Don’t allow terror groups destabilise Nigeria, Buhari tells citizens

APC presidential candidate Tinubu
• ‘No one can blackmail me with embezzlement’
• Rallies support for Tinubu to continue legacies

President Muhammadu Buhari has warned Nigerians not to allow Boko Haram and the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists to further destabilise any part of the country.

He urged citizens to develop more confidence in the country, as its security architecture would never allow any terror group to, again, destroy life and property.

Buhari gave the assurance, yesterday, in Damaturu, Yobe State, when he visited the Emir of Damaturu, Alhaji Hashimi II El-Kanemi, to inaugurate several capital projects completed by Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe.

Promising that the Federal Government would continue to protect the rights of every Nigerian child to education, particularly the ones displaced by Boko Haram in the North East, he said: “With the four months I have left as President, I would continue to be steadfast and hope to retire in peace.

“We must develop strong confidence in our country. Let us make sure we do not compromise security at all in any form, because security and the economy are the most important things to people’s lives and property.”

On amassing wealth while managing the country’s affair, Buhari declared that nobody can blackmail him because he has no property outside the country.

Speaking at a State Banquet organised in his honour in Damaturu, the President restated his commitment to serve God and Nigeria until his last day in office and beyond.

He advised citizens to remain patriotic, since they have no other country.

Less than two months to the general elections, Buhari has called on the electorate in Yobe to cast their ballots for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.

Addressing party supporters at the Damaturu Township Stadium, he said Tinubu would surely consolidate on his performance to reposition the country for growth.

“I accompany Asiwaju (Tinubu) here to tell you to vote for him, so that he can continue with my legacy of rebuilding Nigeria,” the president said.

Reading his prepared speech, Tinubu promised to use the newly commissioned Yobe Cargo airport to boost agriculture in the state, praising Buhari for the airport project and other laudable projects across the country, which he described as wise investments.

“The cargo airport the President commissioned yesterday will be greatly needed when our agenda for greater production of agricultural and industrial exports takes off. It is a wise investment made with courage and foresight. It will be needed to transport Yobe’s excellent sesame, hibiscus and gum Arabic to the rest of the world,” he said.

The former Lagos governor commended the President and security agencies for the success recorded in the battle against insecurity.

He said it was an indication of the marked improvement in the security situation in the North East he could spend Monday night in Yobe.

After attending the campaign rally of the party in Yola, Adamawa State on Monday, the president had proceeded to Damaturu where he spent the night.
