Deputy Governor hails Makinde’s appointment of Emir as LAUTECH’s Chancellor

Bauchi State Deputy Governor, Sen. Baba Tela, yesterday, lauded Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde for appointing the Emir of Katagum, Umar Faruq Umar II, as the Chancellor of LAUTECH, Ogbomosho.

Baba Tela said the development was a demonstration of the country’s oneness. He made the commendation, in a statement, saying it is coming at a time the country needs everything that will keep it more united. 


He added that the appointment coming from the Southwest to the Northeast of the country is a welcome development. “It is a sign that irrespective of ethno-religious differences, the country remains one indivisible entity.” 

Baba Tela, who is also the Matawallen in Katagum Emirate, said: “I am really very happy and pleased with this development. May Allah continue to strengthen the bond of ties between us and give the emir the strength and health to carry out the assignment successfully.”

He expressed confidence that has served the country at the highest level of civil service, the emir would not fail in the assignment, but will make the state and the emirate very proud by performing creditably. 

Bala Tela also appreciated the bold step taken by Makinde, saying it is worthy of emulation by other political leaders in the country. “At a time like this, what we need is bridge-builders across the dividing rivers of ethnicity, religious differences and sectional bigotry. Engineer Seyi Makinde has indeed broken a barrier.”
