Dangote gets accolades from industries’ host communities

Aliko Dangote

President of Dangote Industries Limited (DIL), Aliko Dangote, has received accolades from the communities hosting his companies in Nigeria.

Africa’s richest man had earlier endowed Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) with $1.25 billion, with his businesses donating billions of naira for numerous Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) schemes across Africa.

A statement from the Branding and Communications Department of the company noted that Dangote had donated billions of naira to support health, education and environment in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, host communities in Northern states of Kogi, Benue, Nasarawa and Adamawa have thumbed up DIL for what they described as significant interventions in their communities.

A catalogue of CSR schemes in the coal communities of Benue shows that at Effeche Akpali, the company completed a number of projects as contained in the Community Development Agreement (CDA), signed by the company and host communities, which helped accelerate the provision of infrastructure in the host communities, the statement added.

Recently, the Dangote Coal Mines (DCM) donated multimillion naira in health and educational facilities to the coal communities of Ankpa Local Council in Kogi.

General Manager, Special Duties, Dangote Mines Limited (DML), Nuhu Elujah, said the projects were contained in the mutually consented CDA.

Chairman of Ankpa, Ibrahim Abagwu, and representative of Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development, Samuel Olaetan, commended the company for fulfilling its promises.

Traditional ruler of Ankpa, Onu Ojoku, Alhaji Mohammed Ogbe, represented by his Council Secretary, Usman Abu, lauded the efforts of Dangote Group for ensuring that the agreement signed by both parties came to fruition.
