Customs intercepts military uniforms, arms, drugs at Lagos port

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Tin-Can Island Command, has intercepted some arms and ammunition, military uniforms allegedly being smuggled into the country by some criminals.


It was gathered that substances suspected to be illicit drugs were discovered.

Also, the arms recovered were said to be automatic single-barrel rifles and pump action guns.

It was learnt that the recoveries were made during an inspection of consignments imported into the country.


Meanwhile, there are no confirmation if any arrests were made.

This latest interception is coming eight months after the Comptroller-General of Customs Adewale Adeniyi, dislcosed that two suspects were arrested in connection with the illegal importation of 31 arms of various types at Tin-Can and Multi-Purpose Terminals (PTML) ports in Lagos.
