Cracks in Nasarawa APC as faction wants party chairman removed

Some aggrieved members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) are calling for the resignation of the incumbent state chairman, Aliyu Bello.

The APC in Nasarawa State is divided into two factions over who will become the state’s next governor in 2027.

The aggrieved faction claimed that the process that brought Bello as chairman did not follow due process, calling for his removal if the party must toe the right part.

The faction also alleged that Bello was conscripted by Governor Abdullahi Sule and some few persons in the party to serve their interest by working ahead of the 2027 governorship candidate in favour of Senator Aliyu Wadada who is currently in Social Democratic Party (SDP) where he won his senatorial seat.

Bello, who was secretary of the party in the state, was declared the chairman when former chairman, Dr. John Mamman was appointed commissioner for education in May last year.

Meanwhile, the leadership of the party said Bello was validly elected at its congress.

The party secretary Yairus G. Dagusa in a statement denied insinuations that Bello is working for his friend, Senator Aliyu Wadada in the 2027 governorship polls.

Dagusa said the allegations are baseless and unfounded. He therefore urged supporters to disregard any insinuation that Alhaji Bello was elected to serve for only six months.
