In a bid to restore peace, unity and security in Agwa communities, Oguta Council of Imo State, the state Police Commissioner, CP Aboki Danjuma has pledged support to the immediate reconstruction and full functionality of the police division in the area.

The division, which in 2022 was razed down by suspected hoodlums, is currently receiving massive reconstruction work, courtesy of Agba Central Union, ACU, who our reporter gathered has mapped out over N100m for the project.

CP Danjuma, in company of other top officers of the command and chieftains of the Agwa communities, while inspecting the ongoing work at the division on Friday, assured the agwa people of the commitment of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun and his command to effectively police the state.

He applauded the contributions made by the state governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma and some good spirited people of the communities towards the restoration of peace and security in the area.

The Imo Police boss equally solicited the cooperation of the entire Agwa people to assist the police and other security agencies in their determined effort to rid Imo of all forms of violent crimes and criminalities.

He specifically appealed to the youths of the area to always avail the command of useful information and assistance to ensure that the miscreants who are perpetrating crimes and distorting the peace and development of their area were nabbed and made to face the wrath of the law.

Speaking to newsmen during the CP’s inspection visit, some chieftains of the Agwa communities including Barr. Benson Akunya, President General of Agwa Central Union, HRH Eze Basil Uba of Mgbala Agwa, HRH Eze Chima Azubuike, Uba Agwa Community, HRH Eze S. O. Onuegbu, Mbano Agwa community and Chief Nduka Ozoh, National Treasurer, ACU appreciated the Nigeria Police Force especially the IGP and the Imo CP for their intervention and support towards tackling the security issues of their area.

They also pledged to assist in areas that would complement the efforts emplace to restore peace, stability as well as enhance socio-economic activities, development and general well-being of their people and area.

The Agwa community chieftains also used the opportunity to thank the major donors for the reconstruction of the police division including Mr. Faith Mbah, a USA based industrialist, members of Agwa Central Union and Agwa Diaspora Forum (ADF) under the leadership of Dr. Humphrey Ugo.

Recall that Agwa is one of the areas in Imo State that has been bedeviled by spate of insecurity, leading to the complete collapse of socio-economic activities of the area and the entire indigenes deserting their communities for fear of being attacked or killed by the ravaging suspected hoodlums.
