Commendations as Adegunwa becomes Asiwaju Of Ijebu

Commendation filled the air recently when the Chairman of Rite Foods, Sulaiman Adegunwa was installed as the Asiwaju of Ijebu and his wife, Hajia Fatima Adegunwa as Yeye Asiwaju and Arobake of Ijebu in Ogun state.

Some of the at the event include Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima; Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun; his deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele; former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, former Ogun State Governor, Gbenga Daniel; an entrepreneur, Sonny Kuku; former Ogun State Governor, Segun Osoba; members of council of chiefs and industrialists.


The installation was not only a celebration of Adegunwa’s hard work and dedication to his community, but also a testament to the strength and unity of the people of Ijebuland.

During the installation by the Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, the entire village around the palace was buzzing with excitement and festivity.

Shettima, who rode in the same vehicle with Abiodun to the venue, represented President Bola Tinubu.

The Vice President emphasised the importance of service to humanity and peaceful coexistence in Nigeria, urging political leaders to project the beauty of the nation’s cultural diversity.

Celebrating the new Asiwaju of Ijebuland, the VP said: “The event we are all gathered here to witness is not just one that celebrates the intertwining between leadership and culture but indeed the essence of humanity which is service.”

He called on Adegunwa to see his new role as “a call to service, a reminder that what we owe this country is a sacrifice for love, tolerance and total dedication.”

Abiodun who spoke glowingly about Adegunwa described him as a foremost industrialist, investor and a philanthropist. He said it is indisputably correct that Adegunwa and his wife duly deserve the honour going by what they have contributed to humanity and their communities.

In his response, the new Asiwaju promised that by Grace of God to live up to the people’s expectation.

The Awujale, who conferred the chieftaincy title, spoke through his Chief of Staff, commending Adegunwa and his wife for distinguishing themselves in character, their fields of endeavour, and contributions to the community’s economic well-being.
