Church Of Nigeria elects Bishops for Uyo, Katsina, Oji River, Ogbia dioceses

The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion)has elected new Bishops to pilot the affairs of some vacant Episcopal Sees in four different Dioceses of the church.

The Bishops are The Venerable Owen Ukafia, who will oversee the Diocese of Uyo; The Venerable Nuhu Yohannato superintend the Diocese of Katsina; and The Venerable Matthew Tamunotari Ogazewho will take charge of the Diocese of Ogbia,while The Venerable Ikechukwu Egbuonuwill be in charge of the Diocese of Oji River.


The Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, The Most Rev’d Henry Ndukuba, who made the announcement during the church’s Standing Committee meeting and the Episcopal Synod held in Delta State from February 5 to 9, 2024, urged members of the Church to pray and support thenewly elected Bishops and their families as they go into their new places of assignments after the due processes, training and consecration.

The events took place at the Cathedral Church of the Ascension, Boji-Boji, Owa, and St. Michael’s Anglican Church,Owa Alero in Ika Diocese, Delta State, where 145 Archbishops and Bishops were in attendance including 150 clergy, and 94 members of the laity.
