Church debunks claims by elders, says operation still intact worldwide

The Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, Amazing Grace District Headquarters, Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos, has said the church and its branches are still functioning despite claims by some elders that the ministry is not in operation.

This is coming after the elders, namely Emmanuel Awode, Olusegun Fabunmi, Benson Awonusi, Folusho Ganiyu Jinadu, Remi Babalola, Gafaru Ashiru, Akinlaja Olajuwon, Shola Agesin and Yemi Ogunsanya left the religious organisation over a year ago after a leadership tussle.

The leaders set up their own church, parading themselves as members of the Amazing Grace District.

District Secretary, Amazing Grace Headquarters, Abioye Owolabi, who spoke during a media briefing in Lagos, said the church is disassociating itself from the elders that are parading themselves as members, saying that anyone associating with them, is doing so at his own risk.

Owolabi alleged that the elders are currently using the correspondence of the church for fraudulent activities, urging the public not to deal with them.

He also alleged that the elders carted away the church property, which included vehicles and huge funds, from the church’s account.

Also, a pastor in the church, Gabriel Olateru, alleged that some of the cash withdrawals were with forged documents, and also accused the elders of changing the bank mandate without due process.

Olateru, who said that the branch leaders were in support of the disclaimer, said the case had been reported to the police for further investigations.
