Burna Boy scores first at 2024 Grammys

Afrobeats superstar and Grammy award winner, Damini Ogulu, well known as Burna Boy, has been included in the lineup of performers for this year’s Grammy award live show.


Organisers and promoters of the prestigious award, The Recording Academy, announced Burna Boy’s participation on Monday, January 22, alongside Luke Combs and Travis Scott.

With the development, the African Giant hit maker is set to make history by becoming the first African artiste to perform at the live recording award show. Although, he had performed at the 2020 Grammys premiere show.

For this year’s Grammys, the 66th edition, he received nominations in three categories – Best Melodic Rap Performance with Sittin’ On Top Of The World, featuring Tiwa Savage, which makes him the first Nigerian lead artiste to be nominated outside of the global categories; Best Global Music Performance for Alone’ and Best African Music Performance for City Boys.

Burna Boy’s nomination is a Nigerian record for most nominations in a Grammy year. The 66th Grammy is scheduled to take place on Sunday, February 4, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
