Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi has described the victory of the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari as the end of business as usual for those who revel in cutting corners in the running of the affairs of Nigeria.
The governor who stated this in a congratulatory message issued in Ibadan by his Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Festus Adedayo, described Buhari as a dogged fighter who should be commended for his vision and strength of character which impacted on his victory

The governor said the President-elect is a lesson in perseverance, resilience, calmness and patriotism, which he said were the attributes that made his victory possible.

Governor Ajimobi expressed deep gratitude to Nigerians for keeping faith with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and for reposing confidence in Buhari despite all the darts thrown at him by his opponents and their cohorts.

He restated his implicit confidence in the ability and capability of the President-elect to bring his wide experience to bear in ensuring that the change Nigerians had been clamouring for manifest in the shortest possible time.

The governor thanked the people of the state for turning out in large numbers to vote for APC during the presidential and National Assembly elections, saying this was a manifestation of the confidence they had in him and his administration.

He assured the people that their remarkable contributions to the emergence of the Buhari Presidency would attract some benefits and opportunities to the state in the areas of social and infrastructural development, employment generation and appointments.

Governor Ajimobi solicited further support from the people of the state by voting for him and the House of Assembly candidates of the APC in the April 11 elections in order to further the ongoing repositioning that would take the state to the next level.       
Meanwhile, Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun state has described the victory recorded by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Saturday election as a fulfilment of the vision of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo. 

He said the outcome of the presidential election is watershed in the annals of democratic elections in Nigeria. 

The governor in a state broadcast to the people of the state noted that the election of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari as president of Nigeria is the culmination of the struggle for the enthronement of a people-driven democratic governance in the country.


Aregbesola reminded Nigerians that Awolowo had in 1983 predicted that the progressive elements in the North and South would one day come together for the liberation of the country.
He pointed out that the progressives have always wanted to come together in the past but their march had always been stopped by cruel fate.


The governor cited the example of intention of the coming together of the progressives under the United Progressives Grand Alliance (UPGA) in the First Republic that was cut short by military rule in 1966.


Aregbesola also pointed out the progressive tendency of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), that produced the Chief Moshood Abiola presidential election of 1993, which was brought to an abrupt end by the military after the election, was annulled.
