President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed an Academy Adjutant of the Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA), Lt-Col Yusuf Muktar Dodo, as his new Aide-De-Camp (ADC).
Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, yesterday confirmed the development.
Dodo will take over from Col. Lawal Abubakar proceeding on a promotion course. On completion, Abubakar is to be promoted to a new rank of Brig-Gen alongside his course mates.
Findings revealed Abubakar has been nominated to attend a five-month Strategic and Defence Course at Santiago, Chile between March 8 and July 30, 2021, a prerequisite for his promotion to the rank of Brigadier-General.
Abubakar, by February ending, would be the longest serving ADC to a civilian president, having served for almost six years, and the second longest serving ADC, after late Colonel Walbe, who served General Yakubu Gowon for nine years.
The 48 year-old ADC recommended his successor by nominating three seasoned and trustworthy Army Officers to President Buhari, and the Commander-in-Chief picked Lt. Col Yusuf Muktar Dodo, an Academy Adjutant of Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA), expected to understudy Abubakar for three weeks.
