Board games improve children’s brain, says Ezeocha

The founder of Winning Child Initiative, Mr Goodluck Ezeocha, has disclosed that board games play a huge role in improving the brain of children. This improvement according to him, reflects on their academics.

Mr Ezeocha disclosed this at an Inter-State Chess competition held Friday for schools within the Northern region at the Silverbird conference hall, Abuja.

He said: “Board games are a crucial and overlooked part of a child’s development. Board games, such as chess and scrabble help in science-related fields like technology, engineering and mathematics. We have been able to train over and help over 2000 thousand pupils soar academically and among these pupils, 22 of them are gold medalists. We ensure that through these games every child is trained in critical thinking.

“We have noticed that most children find it difficult to concentrate in class and we have been able to achieve this within a very short time. We have and still raising champions who perform excellently well in basic subjects like mathematics. We go back to this school to monitor the performance of these children and they are indeed excelling. This interstate tournament is an annual event that we do majorly for unity amongst these children.”

Consequently, the ambassador of Chess America, Mrs Ivie Urieto, lauded the organizers and encourage parents to come on board. She said:

“This is a brilliant initiative and it must be allowed to thrive. Mr Goodluck and his team have achieved a high milestone in building the future by preparing exceptional thinkers. I encourage parents to come on board. This is just a perfect extracurricular activity.”

One of the guests, the CEO Fredmind, excitedly congratulated the participants when he said:

“This is not a competition. There is no winner or loser but confident champions who will rule their words. I encourage them to keep the team spirit flying. Winning child initiative is doing a great job.”
