Beyond the Classroom Foundation, The Pollination Project partner to educate displaced children on violence and abuse

To curb cases and educate children of violence and child abuse in the internally displaced person’s (IDP) camp in Abuja, Beyond the Classroom Foundation partners with The Pollination Project to launch the Community Empowerment against Violence and Abuse Project.

Through the Daily Grants by the Pollination Project, children at the Karonmajigi IDP camp will now learn about violence and abuse, body boundaries, child molestation safe/unsafe touch, how to say NO and what to do in situations of abuse through an educational book, “The Alphabet Book on Body Safety,” written by Raquel Daniel, founder of Beyond the Classroom Foundation.

Speaking to the founder of Beyond the Classroom Foundation, she stated that the project was designed to intensify efforts towards educating teachers, parents, community leaders, and children on violence and abuse especially as data show that the number of victims of abuse had increased exponentially during the lockdown and through the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It is quite unfortunate that minors are becoming victims of this shameful act. We have a responsibility as stakeholders, parents, and relations to ensure that we do all we can to prevent the occurrences of these incidences,” she added.

Miss Keziah Mashi, the co-lead of the project also noted that the grant from the Pollination Project is a tremendous opportunity for the children to learn about child abuse, how to say no and what to do if they are ever abused.

The Pollination Project seeks to unleash goodness and expand compassion all over the world. To that end, through the Daily Grant program, the organization makes micro-grants 365 days a year to grassroots global change agents who seek to spread compassion in their communities and in the world for the benefit of all.
