Bayelsa United sacks Ogbeide, picks Ederekumoh as new coach

footballCOACH Solomon Ogbeide at the weekend became the first casualty of the six-week-old 2014/2015 Glo Premier League when the management of Bayelsa United decided to relieve him of his duties due to ‘poor performance.’

Ogbeide was not among the two coaches, whose clubs have put on probation for poor performance, but his job had been on the line following what an insider described as the ‘management’s fear that the team could fall irretrievably if urgent steps were not taken to halt the slide.’

The team, which barely managed to escape the drop last season, on Sunday twice came from behind to hold Dolphins of Port Harcourt to a 2-2 draw in their adopted home of Oghara, Delta State.

Ogbeide had acknowledged after his team’s 2-2 draw with Dolphins that the goals they conceded was bad for his team.

“Some percentage of football is luck.  We did our best. We had chances and couldn’t concert them.
