Bago pledges to sustain free education in Niger

Mohammed Umar Bago

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, has said his administration will sustain the Free Basic Education policy in the state, especially for girls. He stated this at the 22nd graduation, speech and prize-giving ceremony of  El-Amin International School, Abuja, where his son, Marwan, graduated, at the weekend.

The governor, who was Special Guest of Honour at the event, expressed delight with the facilities in the school and assured that effort would be made to uplift public schools in the state to boost teaching and learning, as well as restore the lost glory of public schools.

Bago maintained that the state government would provide the necessary facilities for public schools to attract more teachers, so the children could come out proudly.

Governor Bago, however, appreciated teachers for their commitment at imparting knowledge in the pupils and encouraged them not to relent, as their roles are critical for the pupils to achieve their dreams in life.

He applauded the founder of the school, the late Maryam Babangida, for her insight in establishing the school which has been contributing to the educational needs of children in society.
