Atiku Abubakar’s Presidential Campaign Council has criticized a newspaper owned by Bola Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, for publishing what it describes as “pathetic and illegal lies” about Tinubu’s victory in the recently concluded elections.

According to the Director of Strategic Communications of the Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Council, Dele Momodu, Tinubu’s home base in the South West was decimated by opposition parties in Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Oyo, and Osun.

Despite the violence and attempts to disenfranchise voters, the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, according to Momodu, emerged as the only candidate with national spread. However, Momodu stated that Atiku will not rush to claim victory until the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially announces the winner.

In addition, the campaign council has called on INEC and the Federal Government to take action against the APC chieftains and their allies, whom it claims are responsible for the violence and disruption during the elections. The council also accused these individuals of intimidating President Muhammadu Buhari into publicly displaying his voting preference and blackmailing him into abandoning the currency swap policy.

The campaign council emphasized the need for the president to find the courage to call the bluff of these desperate politicians who feel they can buy Nigeria. The council also urged Nigerians to remain calm and patient while awaiting the official results from INEC.
