The Bishop of Ife Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Rt. Reverend Olubunmi Akinlade has called on Christians as well as Nigerians not to give up on their dreams and aspirations for Nigeria.

He disclosed this recently in Osun State while reading his presidential address and Synod Thanksgiving Service at the third Session of the 11th Synod of the Diocese with the theme: “From Personality to an Institution – Jacob’s Encounter at Bethel.”

Speaking on the lessons learnt from Jacob as a supplanter and deceiver, Akinlade said that Jacob’s life was transformed through prayer to God and his remorse before the brother he cheated. According to him, Jacob received pardon from God after wrestling with Him for a long time and was forgiven by his brother at the end of the day became an institution.

Urging the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu tackle insecurity in the country, Akinlade said: “Nigeria is no more safe culminating into a lot of youths and professionals fleeing the country in droves to foreign nations for greener pastures.

“Farmers have fled their farms to escape from the modern day Fulani herdsmen who are after them with AK 47.”

He charged Tinubu to be bold and courageous to identify enemies of the country and bring them to book. He also frowned at the government’s decision to increase workers’ salary, saying that the out-going government should have increased workers’ salary two years ago instead of creating problem for the incoming administration.
