The Kano House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Justice Dije Aboki as the substantive chief judge, thereby setting a record as the first female judge in the state.

The confirmation of Aboki as the first female chief judge in Kano followed the consideration of a letter forwarded to the assembly by the state governor, Abba Kabir-Yusuf and read by the Speaker, Ismail Falgore, during Thursday’s plenary.

It should be recalled that the immediate past governor, Abdullahi Ganduje had, in March, sworn in Justice Aboki as the acting Chief Judge of Kano state.

In the same vein, the Kano State House of Assembly also confirmed three more commissioner-nominees sent to the Assembly by Governor Kabir-Yusuf.

Their confirmation followed the smooth screening on the floor of the Assembly presided over by Falgore on Thursday.

The nominees screened are Ibrahim Fagge, Ibrahim Namadi and Amina Abdullahi-Sani.

Speaking after the confirmation, Falgore called on the cleared nominees to justify their appointments by being dedicated to their duties when assigned portfolios.

He further urged them all to complement the efforts of the governor in the development of Kano state.

The nominees, after their confirmation, described the opportunity as a call to serve the people of the State.

They also promised to contribute their quota to the development of Kano and implement the manifesto of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) for the overall development of the state.

Recall that the Kano State House of Assembly had also screened and confirmed 19 commissioner-nominees last month.

In another development, Kano State Governor, Kabir-Yusuf on Thursday insisted that his newly appointed commissioners will be on six months probationary period before they fully commence their duties.

He warned that his government would not tolerate failure, laxity and negligence, emphasising that his administration is capable of handling every task at hand.

The governor, who presided over the maiden state executive council meeting at the inner chamber of the Africa House government house, insisted that the probation period was to arm the Commissioners with the tools to rescue Kano from the trauma of bad governance it experienced for eight years.
