A group, the Concerned North Central APC Stakeholders, has distanced itself from a protest calling for the resignation of Umar Ganduje as the party’s national chairman.
The group, in a statement jointly signed by its Secretary General Malam Shehu Ibrahim and President Aodona Patrick, advised those calling for Ganduje’s resignation to return the N250m bribe allegedly received from the state government.
The APC stakeholders said those behind the protests are its expelled members who, it claims, have now found a new enterprise in blackmailing for money.
The APC stakeholders, in a statement, claimed that the Kano State government offered the protesters millions of naira to protest and defame Ganduje.
The APC stakeholders noted that the goal of the group it claims are impersonators is for Ganduje to be removed from office. The APC stakeholders now want the group to do the needful by returning the funds they allegedly collected back to the state government.
“Our findings reveal that these persons were short-changed by desperate forces in Kano Government House who took advantage of their vulnerability,” the statement read in part.
“When this was brought to our attention, we asked them to return the funds. Unfortunately, out of greed they have used part of it.”
The stakeholders, in the statement, also stated that a criminal complaint has been filed against those it claims are impersonating them.
