The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has challenged the State new Commissioner of Police, Mr. AbdulMajid Ali to be proactive in the fight against cultism and other nefarious activities in the State.

Amosun, who gave the charge while commissioning the renovated office building of the Commissioner at the Police Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, the State Capital, lamented the recent increase in cult related activities in Sagamu and Abeokuta areas of the State.

The Governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Taiwo Adeoluwa expressed optimism that, having served in the State before, Ali was in a good position to tackle the menace headlong.

He therefore charged the Commissioner to bring his wealth of experience to bear on his duty, promising continuous government support in the fight against crime.

Amosun said, “We want the Police force to be more proactive and do more of preventive security. We are disturbed by the resurgence of cult activities in Sagamu and Abeokuta. Government is not happy about the trend and wants you to redouble your efforts in tackling it”.

In his response, Ali assured the Governor that his team would not rest on its oars, assuring that the State would soon get rid of cultism and other criminal acts.
