Alhassan Yusuf is the future of the team, says Peseiro

Super Eagles’ Coach, Jose Peseiro, has described Alhasan Yusuf, who was called up to replace the injured Wilfred Ndidi in the Nigerian squad, as the future of the team.

The youngest member in Peseiro’s squad, who was harried and kicked all over the pitch by wary Equatorial Guinea players, was substituted in the second half of the game due to an injury he sustained in the course of the match.

Chosen by many journalists as Nigeria’s best player on Sunday, Yusuf is being monitored and tended to by team doctors to ensure he is fit for Thursday.

Speaking on Yusuf, Peseiro said, “I don’t like to speak about individual performances but it’s true this guy did a very good job.

“I don’t know if he’s injured, I’d like that the injury is not serious so he can play the next match. He showed everybody that he deserves to play for the Super Eagles. He has now become a very important player for us.”
