Bishop of the Diocese of Ife, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Rt. Rev. Olubunmi Akinlade, has called on President Bola Tinubu to improve the general living condition of Nigerians by reducing wastage and cost of governance as well as improving infrastructure and providing employment.

Akinlade, who lamented that Nigerians are today living below the poverty line, spoke, yesterday, during a media briefing where he announced the first session of the 12th Synod of the Diocese of Ife with the theme: “Building Godly Investment for the 21st Century Church,” which is scheduled to hold at the Cathedral Church of St. Philip, Aiyetoro, Ile-Ife, Osun State, between April 27 and 28, 2024.

“The problem has risen to the level of young professionals in the medical, engineering, ICT and other fields relocating to other countries, leading to a vacuum in hospitals, banking, education and other critical sectors.

“We call on the President and his cabinet members to show the determination to implement the change and renew the hope of Nigerians,” he said. He, however, commended Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, for ensuring security in the state and clearing the backlog of outstanding salaries inherited from the previous administration.

The bishop also pleaded for the return of the dilapidated St. Philip Primary School to the Diocese.
