The President, Ohaneze Ndigbo, Lagos State branch, Solomon Aguene, has debunked the news making the rounds on the Internet and other social media platforms about his purported resignation as the President apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation in Lagos.

He noted that, in recent times, there has been misleading information on the social media that Sunday Ossai is the new President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos, which, according to him, is not true.

Aguene made this known during a press briefing, yesterday, held at the Ohaneze Secretariat, in Surulere area of Lagos, noting that a lot of people, especially on the social media, have quoted his statements out of context. He, therefore, said it was important he corrects the misconstrued perception, as well as disparities with regard to his position as the head of Ohaneze in Lagos.

Aguene, however, noted that the visit of the President General of Ohanaeze, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, to Lagos was not all about addressing the crisis in the organisation in Lagos, but to show interest to work with Lagos Ohanaeze in order to care and govern Ndigbo in in the state.

According to Aguene, there are some disagreements surrounding his position as President of the Igbo body in 2018 by some members, but it has been settled.

About tenures in the Ohaneze Constitution, he said that it is very important that false information should be disregarded in Ohanaeze communities.

He noted that some traditional rulers in Lagos need to be sensitised on what it means to assume the mantle of kingship, as they need to possess the right attitude to command respect.

Aguene stated that President Bola Tinubu once scrapped Ezeshipsystem in Lagos when some people started fighting over the leadership of Ohanaeze.

He reiterated that his leadership would not overlook the interests of Ohanaeze in Lagos, but would do everything possible to carry them along.
