Barely 24 hours after former Ekiti State Governor, Segun Oni, said that members of the Repositioning Group were forming what he described as a grand collation with him to win the June 18 governorship election, the group has debunked the claim.
Oni had while speaking on a private radio station, Voice 89.9 FM in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital on Wednesday, which was monitored by newsmen, said that four aggrieved All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirants were working with him, while in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), majority of the Repositioning Group are working with him.
BUT reacting to the development yesterday, Chairman of the Ekiti State PDP Repositioning Group, Mr. Alaba Agboola, said there was nowhere the group met with Oni or his agents to discuss any grand coalition.
Agboola explained that after the PDP governorship primary election that produced Mr. Bisi Kolawole as candidate of the party, groupings in the party seized to exist, reason one of the major arrowheads of the Repositioning Group, Otunba Yinka Akerele, is now the Director-General of Bisi Kolawole Campaign Organisation.
According to Agboola, members of the Ekiti PDP Repositioning Group are not political harlots who move from parties to parties and as such cannot be part of any coalition with Oni.
“Most importantly, two aspirants from the Repositioning Group, Akerele and Alhaji Lateef Ajijola, who contested the PDP primary election are fully with the party’s candidate.
“Therefore, members of the Repositioning Group are in PDP and will remain and work with other members and supporters of the party to win the June 18 governorship election,” he declared.
“Oni should desist from this name-dropping vice that will only mislead the public.”
