The vice-captain of Nigeria’s Williams Troost-Ekong will miss Monday’s AFCON 2023 Group A clash with Guinea-Bissau.

Reports from Côte d’Ivoire said Troost-Ekong are that he is down with a hamstring injury.

It was gathered that the PAOK defender sustained the injury in the 1-0 win against Côte d’Ivoire.

He scored the only goal in the win against the hosts after converting from the penalty spot.

Hopefully, Troost-Ekong would not be out for long due to his influence on the team.

Before the start of the tournament, the Eagles lost the likes of Taiwo Awoniyi, Victor Boniface, Umar Sadiq, and Wilfred Ndidi to injuries.

Meanwhile, a win for the Eagles against Guinea-Bissau will guarantee qualification into the round of 16.

The other game in Group A will see Equatorial Guinea, who have already qualified for the knockout round, take on Côte d’Ivoire.
