• Inducts fellows
The Association of Enterprise Risk Management Professionals (AERMP) has charged members to pay more attention to pre-mortem analysis to prevent institutions from possible vulnerability.
The association during an induction of fellows, held virtually, admonished them to focus on anticipating all possible breakpoints using the pre-mortem analysis as opposed to post mortem and be proactive to prevent attacks.
The newly inducted fellows include Director, Special Insured Institutions Department (SIID) of the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), Joshua Etopidiok; General Manager/Group Head, Business Development, BUA Group, Tajudeen Ahmed; Company Secretary, Bank of Industry (BoI), Olufunlola Salami; and the Managing Director of Living Trust Mortgage Bank, Adewole Adekunle, among others.
In his remark, special guest of honour, President and Chairman of Council, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), Bayo Olugbemi, charged them on the challenges of the profession, especially on advancement in technology and innovation that comes with threats of cyber security.
The guest speaker, Dr. Ayotunde Coker, in his presentation on ‘Big Data, Cyber Security and Emerging Technologies: Challenges and Opportunities for Risk and Compliance Professionals’, who highlighted the challenges of the profession, stressed the need for constant training, awareness, review and re-do to navigate through the four stages of competence of the profession.
One of newly inducted fellows, Director, Special Insured Institutions Department (SIID) of the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), Joshua Etopidiok, in his remarks, urged the institute to be more sensitive to information relating to global developments on enterprise risk management and continue to model their programmes, standards and curricula in line with global best practises.
The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the AERMP, Olayinka Odutola, reiterated the importance of continuous capacity building for the inductees to remain relevant.
