Adewole tasks govt officials on simplicity, resources availability

Ven. Ebenezer Adewole

The Dean of Archbishop Vining Memorial Cathedral, Diocese of Lagos West, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), The Ven. Ebenezer Adewole, has urged government officials to live a simple life and take care of citizens.

Adewole, who spoke with The Guardian, at the weekend, during the Palm Sunday service with the theme: “Christ’s simplicity and humility,” said those in authority should scale down their highlife and make resources available for the masses.

The Dean, while imploring the officials to emulate Christ’s simplicity and model, said: “Today, what we find are people looking for recognition by all means. But for us believers, we should be able to line up our lives with Christ’s simplicity and humility. For example, He rode on a donkey and not a horse to show us His humility.

“The government officials should take care of the people and live a simple life. They should scale down all these highlife so that there will be enough resources.”

The cleric, who also admonished Christians to be humble and simple, described Palm Sunday as the first day of the holy week, which begins with the passion of Jesus Christ.
