Adeleke appoints nephew, APC factional leader as board chairmen

Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Thursday, approved the appointment of his nephew, Tunji Adeleke (jnr) as the chairman of the Local Government Service Commission.

The governor also appointed the chairman of the defunct Rauf Aregbesola’s faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) — The Osun Progressives (TOP) as chairman of Teaching Service Commission.

Adeleke announced the latest set of appointees in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed.

According to the statement, the former National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prof. Wale Oladipo, was named chairman of the Osun State University Governing Council, while Mr. Diran Odeyemi, ex-PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary, was appointed the chairman, Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke.

The following are also appointed chairmen of state statutory boards; Mr. Gbenga Onigbogi, University of Ilesa, Mr. Diran Ayanbeku, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Mr Peter Babalola, Osun State College of Education, Ila, Senator Kola Ogunwale, Osun State College of Health Technology, Ilesa.


Dr Muyiwa Oladimeji was named the chairman of Osun Health Insurance Agency, Mr. Niyi Owolade, as chairman, Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Mr. Ebenezer Ebenco, was named chairman, Council for Arts and Culture, Mr. Akanfe Atidade, chairman, Housing Loans Board, Mr. Kolade Adeleke, chairman, Osun Tourism Board, and Mr. Sola Adewumi, as chairman, Osun Internal Revenue Service.

Also listed are Dr Kingsley Akinroye, chairman, State Hospital Management Board, Mr. Ibukun Fadipe, chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board, Mr. Muyiwa Oloso, chairman, Osun State Broadcasting Corporation, Mr. Taju Adisa, Primary Healthcare Board, Alhaji Maruf Ishola, chairman, Pilgrims Welfare Board (Muslim Wing), Mr. Funso Ishola, chairman, Pilgrims Welfare Board (Christian Wing).

Meanwhile, Adeleke (jnr) who is the new chairman of the Local Government Service Commission is the son to governor Adeleke’s elder brother and the late governor of Osun state, Isiaka Adeleke.


Governor Adeleke on Wednesday inaugurated the State Executive Council with a warning that any commissioner or public official that indulges in corrupt practices will be sanctioned.

He swore in his new appointees including 25 commissioners with the governor one of them and permanent secretaries at the Government Secretariat in Osogbo, the state capital.

The governor while reeling out the names and portfolios said he would be doubling as Commissioner for Works while his deputy, Kola Adewusi, would oversee the Ministry of Sports and Special Needs.
