ACSC charges members on information technology

The Director General, African Centre for Supply Chain (ACSC), Dr. Obiora Madu has charged its newly inducted members to key into information technology as a tool for outstanding excellence.

Speaking at the fourth induction and investiture ceremony in Lagos recently, he stated that lack of information and data is a major challenge to supply chain in Nigeria adding that supply chain was key to the survival of any nation.
“Africa is about 120 per cent population. Africa’s contribution to global trade is at three percent and yet most of the natural resources are in Africa.
“Intra African trade is at 11 per cent, Europe is at 60, Asia is about 52. In between ourselves, we are not doing anything, he stated.

He reiterated the council’s commitment to help Africa society become competitive.
“Today we have 130 members, 21 fellows.
The Centre is committed to quality research and education to strengthen the practice of logistics and supply chain management across Africa.

“Right now we are in Ghana, Kenya, South Africa and probably in Kigali in the next two weeks, he said.
