Aare Ona Kakanfo, Tayo Ayinde agree to peace

Iba Gani Adams

The Chief of Staff (CoS) to Lagos State Governor, Tayo Ayinde and Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, have agreed to peace following their initial face-off and instituted court cases over character defamation and threats.

Ayinde withdrew the legal action against Adams in a letter by his lawyer, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika.

He said: “Kindly assure your client that my client appreciates the fact that the public office he holds and his conduct in it is liable to scrutiny and criticisms by any and every member of the public that feels ill-served by any act or commission or omission by him in that office.

“While he will not hold anyone in grudge for exercising that right, it is his reasonable expectation that anyone doing so abides by truth and fairness of public interest.”

Reacting to the development, counsel to Aare Ona Kakanfo, Oluwole Kehinde, in a letter dated March 27, 2024, said Ayinde’s decision to drop his claim against IbaGani Adams was well-noted and valued.

It would be recalled that Ayinde and Adams had been enmeshed in a legal squabble over a controversial audio voice note allegedly released to the media by another party, which Adams had denied, warning against what he termed as deliberate efforts by some individuals to drag his name in the mud.
