Truly, the course of true love never did run smooth, as some even described love as a devil. Nonetheless, there is no evil angel but Love. Who will survive the ‘devil’s’ antics between Toyin and her childhood friend, Uche in A Sunday Affair?
  
In A Sunday Affair, lifelong best friends Uche and Toyin fall for the same ‘complicated’ man, which tests their loyalty to each other as they face a heartbreaking revelation to best friends. It ensues in a dramatic love triangle where it’s difficult to choose one person over another.
 
A Mo Abudu Productions and Netflix, A Sunday Affair hit Netflix on February 14, 2023. It features Oris Erhuero, Dakore Egbuson-Akande, Nse Ikpe Etim, Alexx Ekubo, Uzor Osimkpa, Chris Iheuwa and Hilda Dokubo.  
 
Speaking on the project, Head, Programming and Creative Producer of the movie, Heidi Uys, said: “This is a beautiful movie, it’s a love story. It’s an entanglement between three people who fell in love with each other. It shows a person can fall in love with more than one person at a time.
 
“The story idea is original to Mo Abudu; the script has been in the work for about 10 years. So, it took nearly a decade to mould the script and came up with a story; in terms of film, it takes about two years to finish. All the right people came when we have the right story, we had the right actors and the right moment in the universe.
  
“I think A Sunday Affair is a movie everybody will love. There is so much darkness in the world right now, and this is to remind everybody that a little love goes a long way. This movie is going to take us back to what it means to love. And for that very reason, I think the movie will do very well. This movie will make audience feel steamy, dreamy, and teary.”
   
Speaking on his role, the lead character, Erhuero, said: “If you’ve listened to the song, Caught Up In The Rapture of Love, that’s what this is about. I played a role that nobody wants to talk about, especially people looking for love.
 
“Everybody wants a committed relationship, wants to be happy, but this is like a love triangle. I really feel sorry for people who are single. I am happy in my marriage so, I pray others will find such happiness.
 
“Finding love is not difficult, it’s about knowing yourself. We need to spend time with own self, praying and meditating, spend time looking deep within ourselves.”  
 
On the interesting aspect of the project, he said: “Working with two of the finest actresses (Dakore Egbuson-Akande and Nse Ikpe Etim) of our era is one of the interesting things about this movie. Working with Mo Abudu, Ebony Life and the people that are changing the narrative is exciting. Nollywood is on top of the world just like the Afrobeats.”  
 
Also speaking, Akande who played the role of Toyin said; “I like the fact that this movie is about love, but not love in the Hollywood sense but in the real sense of love. Sometimes love doesn’t work out the way we think. It is important that we show films like this to help us face solely expectations that are realistic. A Sunday Affair is a complicated mature love and I think we have been starved of that kind of movie.”
 
Asked if that was her best role so far, she said: “It is my best role so far. It’s my recent work and I want my work to always improve with every role.”
