The National Youth Wing of the All Progressive Congress (APC) party is set to equip over 5,000 young individuals with critical workplace readiness and employability skills.

According to the organisers, the programme ‘Workplace Readiness and Employability Skills Training’ with the theme ‘I Am Employable’, will take place from June 4 to 7, 2024, in Abuja.

They said the programme was designed to help young Nigerians, aged 16 and above, develop the core skills that employers seek.

The training they stressed, aimed to improve their ability to secure jobs, retain employment and navigate the labour market effectively.

According to them, participants will learn essential personal-branding skills for effective CV and resume presentation, core workplace competencies, innovative thinking and strategies for thriving in a global society.

APC National Youth Leader and Training Convener, Dayo Israel, in his remark, emphasised the programme’s goals, stating that it would improve the economic capacity of young citizens.

“Our primary goal with this programme is to improve the economic capacity of young Nigerians, especially young progressives, by empowering them with the necessary core skills that will enhance their ability to secure a job, retain employment, and move flexibly in the labour market.

“This initiative is a crucial step in our broader strategy to foster youth development and economic growth in Nigeria,” he said.

He added that the programme targets youths, graduates, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members and individuals transitioning careers as well as aiming to boost their employability in today’s competitive job market.
