41 out of 9,172 UniAbuja graduates bag first class

A total of 41 graduands among 9,172 that will be taking part in the 28th convocation ceremony of the University of Abuja (UniAbuja) will bag First Class in various degree programmes.

This is even as the institution has revealed that it would soon launch a sexual harassment policy.

Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah stated this yesterday in Abuja at a pre-convocation press conference.

According to Prof. Na’Allah, the convocation billed for this Saturday, February 17, will also witness the graduation of 7,896 undergraduate students as well as 1,276 post-graduate students.


“The total number of graduands is 9,172. The regular programme is producing 6,237, Centre for Distance Leaning and Continuing Education is producing 971 and the Institute of Education also has 688.

“The total undergraduate students come to 7,896, post-graduate school, Masters and Ph.D, we are graduating 1,276.

“Our of all the undergraduate students, First Class is 41. Second Class Honours (Upper Division) 1,845; Second Class Honours (Lower Division) 4,842; Third Class Degree 1,075; Pass Degree 50, MBBS 43, Ph.D 151; Masters Degree including professional Masters 742; post-graduate Diploma 383.”


He stated that while four new facilities have been established, Mass Communication has unbundled into seven different departments.

Na’Allah whose tenure as Vice Chancellor comes to an end in June this year, also revealed that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has granted approval for the take-off of the university’s micro-finance bank.
