105 bag first class as UNIPORT graduates 13,816

At least 105 out of 13,816 graduating students of University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) would be awarded with first class at the institution’s 34th convocation ceremony billed for February 23 and 24.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Owunari Georgewill, while giving a breakdown of the graduating students, said of the figure, 8,146 are for the award of  first degree certificates; 3,665 post-graduate diploma, 1,528 Masters, and 476 for Doctor of Philosophy.

Georgewill disclosed that the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Musa Christopher, would deliver the convocation lecture on national security and challenges, among other activities lined up for the event.

He said the institution has consistently ranked tops among its peers, and has garnered international recognition for its academic programmes and research output.

Besides, the vice chancellor noted that the school has enjoyed federal and state government’s support over the years, which has helped in infrastructural development and enhanced overall learning environment for students.

He reassured of the institution’s commitment to advancing knowledge, fostering innovation, and serving as a catalyst for positive transformation.
